Why Does Elon Musk Always Need to Be The Center of Attention During Crises? The Newest Review on Boring Company Not-a-Flamethrower
The Newest Review on Boring Company Not-a-Flamethrower
Elon Musk is a brilliant man who often brings his ego to the fore when the world is in trouble, and calls for heroes to stand up; this time it’s because of the coronavirus outbreak. The pandemic has frightened and worried many about the state of the world, its health and the economy.
Musk, an entrepreneur and experienced engineer, is behind several companies, including Tesla, SpaceX and The Boring Company. Musk was successful with the Dotcom boom and eventually helped found PayPal. The entrepreneur’s model has always looked to the future, with the futuristic design of the Tesla cyber truck being a prime example. It is impressive that the Tesla Cybertruck received support thanks to a large number of pre-orders. Other ventures that Musk has tried have also proven successful. In fact, the businessman has successfully made millions of dollars from selling flamethrowers.
However, it seems that Musk’s kryptonite is the social media platform Twitter and is often at the center of a controversy because of its tweets. Most recently, Musk tweeted that the country had to reopen for freedom. And that, although, as Gizmodo emphasized, Musk has consistently downplayed the effects of the pandemic. Musk predicted there would be fewer new cases of coronavirus in the United States in late April. Needless to say, things went exactly contrary to what the businessman predicted, and there are a significant number of people who are now infected. Since musk must always be the center of attention in times of crisis, this would-be hero can do more harm than good.

Previously, Musk had promised on Twitter to make ventilators when places were desperately in need of more personal protective equipment, and people were begging him to start making them right away. When Musk started giving away much-needed resources, experts questioned Musk’s ventilators because they feared they could do more harm. Musk’s merit is that he uses his engineering talent to make ventilators that use auto parts, and if he is successful, Musk and his team could save lives.
In the summer of 2018, the world watched heroes perform to save the trapped Thai youth football team and help them escape the floods of the Tham Luang Nang Non-Cave System. Many people took part in the rescue effort, including musk. Due to the amazing effort and success, a film was put into production. However, in a series of deleted tweets that TechCrunch has preserved, Musk notoriously called one of the divers “pedo-guy” just because the diver referred to the Tesla CEO’s participation as a PR stunt.
Musk’s constant need to be the center of attention in a crisis may simply be because the billionaire means well and really wants to help. Musk has proven that he is able to think ahead and develop solutions. His desire to draw attention to himself in an emergency could also be for selfish reasons. It could be a way to forget about the Tesla CEO’s other controversies, especially those regarding the artists. Maybe Musk’s ego is bound to be the real version of a much loved superhero. Iron Man’s Robert Downy Jr. used Musk as part of the character’s inspiration. While this influence makes it easy to want to recognize Musk as a hero and believe that the billionaire is doing what he can to save people, it is important to remember that Musk is not the real version of Tony Stark is, but a businessman in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic.
